The Labor & Employment Law Cases We Handle

Our team of labor and employment lawyers in Panama City has broad experience in numerous legal areas, including business, commercial, and civil law, enabling them to handle even the most unique cases. Below, we list the matters we often take on and important details about the laws concerning them:

Employment Contracts

According to Panamá’s labor code, all workers must receive and sign an employment contract before beginning employment. However, exceptions exist for temporary laborers, freelancers, and independent contractors.

These contracts will include details about a worker’s start date, end date (for fixed-term contracts), employment responsibilities, and pay. Additionally, they will feature information about an employer’s obligations.

Our team routinely drafts contracts on behalf of employers to protect them from errors that could put their business at risk. We also partner with workers whose employers failed to uphold their end of an employment contract.

Termination

A person’s status as an employee may end when they:

  • Quit
  • Reach the end of their contract period
  • Mutually agree with their employer to part ways
  • Are fired by an employer
